Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at the Dirty Northern Public House. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring that all dishes and equipment are sanitized and in good working order.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, dishes, and utensils, including dishwashers, carts, and waste disposal units.
- Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation, including portioning and wrapping foods, preparing and heating simple food items, and using manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs.
- Inventory Management: Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
- Garbage and Recycling: Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and ensure that all recycling is properly sorted and stored.
- Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment, including deep fryers and grills.
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent.
- Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a kitchen environment or equivalent experience.
- Work Setting: Willing to work in an urban area and relocate if necessary.
- Physical Capabilities: Able to stand for extended periods, work in a fast-paced environment, and lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, and a team player attitude.
This is a permanent position, working 35 to 40 hours per week. Public transportation is available. The work environment is fast-paced, and overtime may be required. The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure and maintain a high level of productivity in a repetitive task environment.
