About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Kitchen Helper at Taj Mahal Indian Cuisine. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our food preparation and service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitation
    • Ensure all dishes, utensils, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized to the highest standards.
    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including work surfaces, cupboards, and storage areas.
  • Food Preparation and Service
    • Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items, including portioning, wrapping, and plating.
    • Operate dishwashers, wash and sanitize dishes, and maintain a clean and organized dish area.
    • Assist in the serving of customers at counters or buffet tables.
  • Supply Management
    • Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
    • Restock condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas.
  • General Kitchen Duties
    • Assist in the removal of kitchen garbage and trash.
    • Sharpen kitchen knives and maintain a clean and organized knife area.
    • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit as needed.
    Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Efficient interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Reliability and ability to maintain a regular attendance record.
Language and Work Term

This is a permanent position with a 40-hour work week. The successful candidate will be required to speak and understand English fluently.
