Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Pet Care Retail Store Manager to join our team at Pet Valu. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales growth, and leading a high-performing team of pet care experts.

Pet Valu is one of the largest retail operations in North America dedicated to providing families with food and supplies for dogs, cats, companion birds, wild birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. Our stores are committed to helping local pets in need, and we partner with local shelters, rescues, and charities for adoption events, in-store adoption, and pet food bank programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and develop your store team to deliver world-class service to all customers and help Pet Parents find the right nutrition and other solutions for their pets.
  • Maintain courteous relationships within the community, including the Humane Society.
  • Manage a team of employees, including recruiting, scheduling, training, day-to-day assignment of tasks, supervision, and coaching.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to operational standards and procedures set by corporate operations.
  • Coordinate order placements, maintain inventory, complete store audits and safety audits, coordinate minor store repairs, and complete miscellaneous corporate paperwork.
  • Drive business results by coordinating efforts of store staff to achieve targeted outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of customer service and retail store management experience.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and growth in the pet care industry.
  • Outgoing and friendly personality with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work as scheduled, including weekends and evenings.
  • Reliable means of transportation to and from the store.
  • Working knowledge of POS systems.
  • Capacity for understanding inter-team conflicts and escalating when necessary.
