About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our inter-disciplinary public health team, you will play a vital role in delivering programs and services that promote the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Public Health Early Years Manager and other team members to develop, implement, and evaluate public health policies, programs, and services. You will have a deep understanding of population health, health promotion, and disease prevention principles and practices.

Key responsibilities will include implementing the Healthy Beginnings Program, screening, assessing, and supporting families in the prenatal and post-partum period. You will also facilitate collaborative multidisciplinary approaches, work with community partners and stakeholders to address health inequities, and provide immunization program support to our Health Protection Team.

You will demonstrate health equity, social justice, and determinants of health principles in all aspects of your work. Additionally, you will engage in independent, interdependent, and dependent actions and activities related to the Public Health Core Competencies.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, with a minimum of one year of experience in Public Health or Community Health. A Certificate in Public Health Nursing is an asset. You must be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential for this role. Travel between various sites within the zone will be required.

About You
  • Bachelor in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • 1 year minimum nursing experience in Public Health or Community Health
  • Certificate in Public Health Nursing an asset
  • Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
Hours and Compensation
  • Permanent Full Time/75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • $43.57 - $54.11 Hourly
