About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Clinical Reviewer to join our Program Management team at North York General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in collecting and submitting reliable data to the ACS NSQIP, identifying clinical quality improvement opportunities, and managing special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and submit high-quality data for all eligible surgeries to the ACS NSQIP
  • Work closely with the Department of Surgery to identify clinical quality improvement opportunities and manage special projects
  • Plan and coordinate data collection with the Surgical Program team
  • Build strong relationships with peers, physicians, staff, patients, and families
  • Identify problems, report them to senior team members, and assist in developing plans to resolve them
  • Participate in database maintenance, including data entry
  • Conduct chart reviews and assess study-related literature
  • Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline or equivalent
  • Certified SCR or willingness to successfully complete the ACS NSQIP SCR Training/Certification Program
  • Minimum one year experience in a surgical department, surgical suite setting, acute care setting, clinical research, or medical records with coding and abstraction
  • Clinical chart review and abstraction experience preferred
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite with advanced skills in MS Word and Excel
  • Experience in PowerPoint and Outlook preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and be a confident self-starter
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
