About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at Verve Senior Living. As an RPN, you will play a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in and adhere to continuous quality improvement standards.
  • Assess the needs of individual residents and develop plans of care to promote maximum resident independence.
  • Conduct pre-move-in and ongoing assessments of residents' health and wellness needs, making recommendations as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and safe practices related to medication administration.
  • Update residents' plans of care every 6 months or as required.
  • Carry out assigned tasks and responsibilities, taking into account the physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of residents.
  • Supervise care given by attendants or designated staff, providing job guidance as needed.
  • Distribute medications and provide treatments to residents in accordance with current standards of care.
  • Respond to emergency calls from residents, providing assistance and contacting professional help as necessary.
  • Provide direct resident care in accordance with current standards of care.
  • Comply with infection control protocols and participate in outbreak management.
  • Act as a leader and help develop employees to ensure an adequate level of service and job standards are achieved.
  • Maintain accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents and personnel.
  • Report incidents and changes in resident status to management and complete shift reports.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of plans of care that support resident independence.
  • Keep management informed of staff member performance.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating the outcome of specific interventions and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide ongoing support to coworkers and advocate for residents' rights.
  • Utilize equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of grade 12 education required.
  • Recognized nursing license (RPN licensing) and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Previous experience working as an RPN in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language and demonstrate excellent human relations skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and evaluate resident care needs.
  • Dependable, responsible, and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Word and Excel.
