Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Research Coordinator to join our team at McMaster University. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, refining, analyzing, coordinating, and reporting on several clinical research projects.

Purpose and Key Functions:

  1. Apply specialized knowledge and scientific principles to review, critically appraise and interpret published literature
  2. Write sections of scientific papers, funding proposals, and abstracts
  3. Coordinate the activities of research staff and resources to ensure that the project progresses in accordance with predetermined timelines
  4. Develop estimates of time and resources for research projects
  5. Oversee the collection, entry, verification, management, analysis, and reporting of data
  6. Use statistical software to analyze data and interpret results
  7. Design and maintain databases, data collection forms, error checking methods and related programs for efficient collection, analysis, and reporting
  8. Troubleshoot moderately complex computer problems
  9. Write data management and operations documentation for projects
  10. Liaise between the clinic centre and remote clinic sites and personnel
  11. Conduct structured patient interviews
  12. Ensure that the relevant research methodology is applied and all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures
  13. Participate in the development of promotional strategies and related materials to encourage participation and support for research projects
  14. Consult on protocol development, student organization, and data management activities
  15. Develop presentations and present information and training sessions to project personnel and project patients
  16. Present at meetings, seminars, and conferences
  17. Keep project participants informed of project progress through regular reports and newsletters
  18. Implement and maintain research project budgets. Create financial projections and make adjustments to research project budgets throughout the fiscal year
  19. Exercise appropriate controls, monitor, and reconcile accounts
  20. Conduct literature searches

Supervision:

  1. Provide lead hand supervision and is responsible for the quality and quantity of work of others
  2. Ongoing responsibility for supervising up to 9 casual employees at any one time
  3. Provide orientation and show procedures to others

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
  2. Requires 4 years of relevant experience
