About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Absence and Disability Management Consultant to join our team at HUB International Ontario Limited. As a key member of our Employee Benefits Consulting Practice, you will play a critical role in helping our clients navigate the complexities of absence and disability management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement absence and disability management strategies for clients, leveraging your expertise in case management and disability contracts.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients on absence and disability management best practices, including interpretation and analysis of complex disability contracts.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues to develop and implement comprehensive consulting strategies and mandates, including process, policy, and claims audits.
  • Develop and implement tools and templates to streamline absence and disability management processes for clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients via virtual meetings, emails, and in-person sessions, providing clear and concise guidance on absence and disability management.
  • Facilitate client meetings, create agendas, document notes, and follow through on action items, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Keep projects on track to meet client objectives, analyzing multiple data sets and developing actionable strategies and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop client-facing reports and presentations, showcasing your expertise and providing valuable insights to clients.
  • Collaborate with vendors and insurance carriers to execute targeted programs, ensuring seamless delivery of absence and disability management services.
  • Maintain and update client files within our internal network, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Work collaboratively with the national team on client projects, sharing knowledge and best practices to drive excellence.
  • Conduct industry research on absence and disability management trends, staying up-to-date on the latest developments and best practices.
  • Peer review and provide feedback on team documents, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Assist with special projects as required, demonstrating your flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in case management within insurance or a third-party provider.
  • Proven experience in case management, particularly with STD, LTD, and salary continuance.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong analytical, creative, strategic, and integrative skills.
  • Advanced data analysis and interpretation capabilities, with the ability to derive actionable insights.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality client work efficiently and accurately.
  • Proficient in presentation delivery.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • Growth-oriented mindset, open to feedback and ongoing development.
  • Adaptability and quick learning in a changing organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills with clients, vendors, and insurers.
  • Knowledge of the latest trends in absence and disability management.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and self-motivation.
  • Proficient in computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications in disability management, such as Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP)
  • Experience in benefits management.
  • Mental health, psychological safety, or insurance education/training certificates.
  • Knowledge of human resources, CNESST, other Workers' Compensation Boards, and occupational claims management.
  • Ability to create a fun and supportive work environment.
