Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health is a leading healthcare provider in Nova Scotia, offering a range of services to patients across the province. Our team of professionals is dedicated to delivering high-quality care to our patients, and we are currently seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our Adult Service team in Mental Health and Addictions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. They will work closely with the Manager and other team members to ensure that clients receive comprehensive and effective care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical health-related disciplines, such as social work, psychology, or nursing, and will be registered with the relevant provincial regulatory body.

They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in multiple software applications. The successful candidate will be able to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

About the Benefits

As a Clinical Therapist with Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health, you can expect a competitive salary between $37.31 - $49.05 per hour, depending on your level of experience. You will also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

About the Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline;
  • Current registration with the relevant provincial regulatory body;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM-5) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders;
  • Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs;
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • High-level written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and experience with conflict resolution;
  • The ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
