Job Summary:
The Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Research I to join our team at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) Cell Imaging Facility. As a Research I, you will play a critical role in providing technical support for research and teaching in the Cell Imaging Facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with or carry out the preparation of biological samples for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)
- Operate TEM and other microscopes in the Facility and acquire data
- Perform general laboratory duties to ensure the smooth running of the CCI Cell Imaging Facility
- Assist with developing new TEM methods
- Work with research teams to generate and disseminate new knowledge that assists with advancing the understanding of health disciplines and various health and medical concerns
- Prepare and submit research documents, collect and review information related to the study, and monitor study compliance
- Assist with the recruitment of study participants and initiate consenting of study and/or trial participants
- Complete lab work to support research activities
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in a health or science related field
- Registration with applicable professional association or college where required
- Microscopy experience, especially with confocal microscopy and transmission electron microscopy
- Basic laboratory skills including cell culture, preparation of solutions and reagents, and performing immunofluorescence staining
- Comfortable with various platforms of computers and have troubleshooting skills
- Proficient with Windows OS, MS Office, and computer hardware
- Strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment and will be required to work independently and be self-motivated.
