Position Overview:Lead Research Scientist - Process Safety and Development
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee site process safety initiatives, providing essential training and guidance to process chemistry teams regarding hazard assessments of laboratory chemical processes.
- Serve as the process safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) across multiple departments.
- Conduct process safety evaluations for active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production conducted under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Establish and refine process safety evaluation protocols and procedures for the site, acting as a corporate resource on process safety matters.
- Engage in recruitment, selection, management, development, and evaluation of staff, emphasizing mentorship and teamwork.
Key Focus Areas:
- Perform process safety evaluations and investigations related to drug substance manufacturing.
- Apply suitable methodologies and techniques to facilitate process development activities.
- Drive continuous enhancement of process safety systems, prioritizing both personnel and process safety.
- Ensure adherence to process safety regulations and corporate objectives.
- Stay informed on the latest scientific principles, theories, and regulatory guidance to foster personnel development and system improvements.
- Champion and advance site process safety programs and systems.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 8 years of industry experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
- Experience in process safety and development within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical sectors is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to make informed and timely decisions, complemented by strong communication and collaboration skills.
