About the Role

The Senior Commercial Banking Relationship Specialist plays a key role in driving business growth and expansion within the commercial banking portfolio in Canada. As a critical member of the team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote the development and profitable growth of the commercial banking portfolio in assigned market areas through proactive relationship management and sales planning.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to maximize business development opportunities for sustainable growth.
  • Analyze prospect lists and prioritize business development opportunities based on market data and customer analytics.
  • Partner with internal resources to deliver non-credit related products and services to customers.
  • Refine business development processes to increase sales opportunities and improve customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in business or economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous work experience of at least 2 years or completion of Scotiabank's Training Program is preferred.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Thorough knowledge of Scotiabank's commercial lending and deposit products and services, as well as customer profitability models.
  • Ability to conduct due diligence on customer financials for deals of lower to moderate complexity.
Work Environment:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Canadian business banking marketplace, including knowledge of segment strategies, structure, and lending and deposit products and services. The incumbent will be required to communicate in both English and French, as they will be working closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English and will serve an English and French-speaking clientele frequently.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This figure is based on industry standards and takes into account the level of expertise and responsibility required for this role.
