Environmental Services Manager

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking an experienced Environmental Services Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our long-term care home in Woodslee, ON.

Daily Routine Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain all areas of the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and replacements of equipment and systems.
  • Document and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Supervise contractors and monitor their work to ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to maintain the facility and its grounds.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Support the Executive Director in hiring and performance management of departmental staff.
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Manage departmental budgets and inventory to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Participate in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including reporting and committee work.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of services and products provided by departmental staff meet established standards.
Qualifications:
  • Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services/Building Services Management or related field.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems.
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Formal training in building maintenance is an asset.
  • Health and safety certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
  • Experience in a maintenance role within a resident or guest building with a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French is preferred.
  • Ability to complete a vulnerable sector check.
  • Ability to work day shifts with some on-call capabilities.
  • Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job.
