Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team at Kiewit. As an Electrical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the direction, completion, and financial outcome of electrical construction operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise the work of project electricians, engineers, and other project personnel to establish operational priorities and maintain effective relationships with owners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage electrical field operations and work sequence in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections, and review, approve, and negotiate change orders.
  • Establish work plans and staffing needs for each phase of the project, and work closely with the Project Manager and HR team to manage relationships with staff and craft employees.
  • Form and lead an effective project management team, define, and delegate management responsibilities and set goals.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
  • Ensure electricians and engineers understand and execute work as required by client/project specifications.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and production are always maintained.
  • Responsible for project closeout: securing loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of work experience managing electrical aspects of commercial construction projects with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, project owner specifications, engineering drawings, and other project documents/reports.
  • The ability to work successfully both independently and as a team to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done the first time.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
