Job Description

VIA Rail is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team in the rolling stock modernization department. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery, and meeting budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement project plans, including resource allocation, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement project governance frameworks.
  • Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders, including project sponsors, team members, and senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
  • University degree in engineering, administration, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of project management experience in rail projects or the heavy equipment industry.
  • Practical knowledge of project management tools and methods, including Microsoft SharePoint, EPM 2010, and Project Online.
  • PMP certification (an asset).
  • Experience working in a matrix management environment.
  • English/French bilingualism (spoken and written) is essential.
