VIA Rail is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team in the rolling stock modernization department. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery, and meeting budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement project plans, including resource allocation, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement project governance frameworks.
- Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders, including project sponsors, team members, and senior management.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, and develop contingency plans as needed.
- Ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
- University degree in engineering, administration, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of project management experience in rail projects or the heavy equipment industry.
- Practical knowledge of project management tools and methods, including Microsoft SharePoint, EPM 2010, and Project Online.
- PMP certification (an asset).
- Experience working in a matrix management environment.
- English/French bilingualism (spoken and written) is essential.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and lead assigned teams.
- Good negotiation skills and ability to influence others to sign agreements.
- Skilled in planning and organizing teamwork.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the team and with clients.
