Role Summary: As a Laboratory Assistant at LifeLabs, you will play a vital role in the specimen collection process, ensuring patient comfort and care. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, collecting specimens, and preparing them for transportation. With a focus on patient relationships and communication, you will be an essential member of our team, supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services. Key Responsibilities: • Greet patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patient compliance with test protocols. • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and conduct ECG tracings. • Collect and process special test samples, such as medical/legal drug screens and paternity tests. • Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests. • Complete data entry for patient demographics, requisition information, and test results. • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing. Requirements: • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience in phlebotomy, IV infusion, or IV therapy. • ECG training or experience is an asset. • Proficient data entry skills and excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, upholding patient privacy and confidentiality. • Effective relationship-building skills with patients and healthcare providers.
