Director, Accounting Policy and Advisory

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Accounting Policy and Advisory to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a key leader in our Accounting Policy team, you will play a critical role in developing and presenting executive materials, collaborating with stakeholders across the enterprise, and driving business critical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Present Executive Materials: You will be responsible for developing and presenting executive materials, including audit committee materials, to senior finance executives, focusing on key judgment areas.
- Provide Oversight and Insights: You will provide oversight of and insights into our audit and audit-related fees, enabling fee discussions with our external auditors in partnership with the Finance and Procurement teams.
- Provide Accounting Advisory Services: You will provide accounting advisory services to internal stakeholders across RBC, advising on complex accounting issues, including special projects, and working with key stakeholders to ensure conclusions are consistent with our corporate accounting policies.
- Communicate Financial and Organizational Impacts: You will communicate financial and organizational impacts and status updates to senior finance executives.
- Support Quarterly External Reporting: You will support our quarterly external reporting process as a key member of the team in managing the preparation and delivery of critical elements of our reporting.
- Liaise with Industry Peers: You will liaise with industry peers on accounting matters as needed through industry associations.
- Liaise with External and Internal Auditors: You will liaise with the external and internal auditors on financial accounting and reporting policy issues, as needed.
- Shape Future Accounting and Disclosure Requirements: You will shape future accounting and disclosure requirements by supporting advocacy efforts on accounting-related issues.
- Chartered Professional Accountant Designation: You must have a Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
- Experience in Financial Services and/or Accounting Policy: You must have 7+ years of working experience in a financial services and/or accounting policy or similar role.
- Experience with Financial Reporting: You must have experience with financial reporting.
- Strong Analytical, Organizational and Problem Solving Skills: You must have strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and lead independently.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills: You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to senior executives.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: You must have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to act as a change agent, facilitator and collaborator.
