About the Role

Trotter & Morton Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our Mechanical Division, you will play a crucial role in preparing estimates for a wide range of mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers in the preparation of estimates, including quantifying material and labour, and gathering quotations from sub-trades and equipment.
  • Work on a full range of mechanical projects to analyze costs and prepare estimates, as well as provide technical support to project operations.
  • Participate in the preparation of tender submissions, pre-construction conceptual estimates, and project schedules for review by the Project Manager.
  • Estimate preparation for costs of materials, labour, sub-trades, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
  • Review bid package blueprints and drawings, calculate quantity take-off, and check for mathematical and technical accuracy.
  • Liaise with suppliers, collect quotes on materials, and attend pre-bid meetings for clarification.
  • Present bid packages with tender prices for clients according to specifications.
  • Track actual costs against estimates and identify possible improvements to processes.
Requirements
  • Five years of related work experience with a proven track record in the local marketplace.
  • Post-secondary degree and/or diploma and/or valid Journeyperson certifications in the Mechanical Field.
  • Strong knowledge of construction systems, local construction association documentation, and estimating software packages.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with estimating software packages.
