Job Title: Principal, Building Science Leader

Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Canada West team as a Principal, Building Science Leader. As a technical leader, you will apply building science fundamentals to a wide range of buildings, focusing on leading building enclosure consulting work from investigation to design and construction. Your expertise will be invaluable in developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying project opportunities, and delivering building science services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop client relationships
  • Lead the team as project principal throughout all stages of existing building projects
  • Participate in early-stage services, including strategic advice for energy, building enclosure, heating/cooling, and ventilation performance objectives
  • Develop the company's services and approach to best address client and industry needs
  • Provide expertise and guidance for projects, including input and internal peer review
  • Undertake project-specific business development activities and proposal preparation
  • Provide mentorship to staff and support their career development plans
  • Ensure delivery of services and products meeting company quality standards
  • Develop and deliver in-house and client education and training programs
  • Provide technical leadership and share knowledge on internal technical forums
  • Network within the building enclosure community, including authoring papers and speaking engagements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or Architecture
  • 15+ years of experience in building science and engineering, with knowledge of architecture and construction, focusing on building enclosure
  • Field experience addressing site conditions and managing construction process and contract issues
  • Demonstrated business development experience
  • Successful relationship building experience, particularly with developers, architects, building owners, and project team members
  • Proven success leading projects involving large and small buildings
  • Excellent technical knowledge of building science, building enclosure design, and construction processes
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, staff, and consultants
  • Ability to gather and diagnose information, interpret data and drawings, and assess conditions for multiple components
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and investigative aptitude
  • Proven team player with the ability to foster teamwork and cooperation
  • Fast learner with the ability to develop technical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information to staff, clients, and trades
  • Ability to shift focus between changing priorities
  • Solid project management skills and ability to manage performance of others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to assume responsibility
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong desire and potential to be a leader in the industry

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000
