Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair designated fans, pumps, air compressors, and other mechanical machinery to ensure effective operation.
  • Install mechanical items and operate hand and power tools to fabricate parts required during maintenance and repair.
  • Communicate with clients regarding required downtime and set up and maintain machine tools and the machine shop.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of inventory levels and work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of high school plus Millwright Apprenticeship Program or recognized equivalent.
  • 7,040 hours on-the-job training and 8 weeks (240 hours) of technical training in class each year for four years.
  • Possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications.
  • Ability to read and understand short notes, forms, instructions, memos, and/or letters.
  • Ability to read and understand materials such as detailed operating/procedure manuals, diagrams, blueprints, etc.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to estimate and measure sizes and distances accurately.
  • Ability to work independently at tasks that require concentration and maintain/repair equipment/instruments.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high-quality work while meeting deadlines.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task and effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds, and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift 11 kg to 20 kg, pushing or pulling heavy equipment, reaching forward, reaching above and below the shoulders, using machinery or equipment that requires very controlled movement; large movements requiring strength and coordination.
  • May be required to work at multiple sites as well as rotating shifts.
