Job Summary

The Payroll Coordinator is a key position within the Paper Excellence organization, responsible for coordinating the payroll program for the mill site. This role reports to the HR Manager and is a critical component of our human resources team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for approximately 500 employees in multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable government regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and employees to resolve issues and provide payroll-related support.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with Collective Agreements, company policy, and legislation.
  • Complete year-end reconciliations and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Act as a resource for employees, providing guidance on payroll-related matters and advising the Payroll & Benefits Supervisor of pertinent changes or issues.
  • Prepare Records of Employment as required.
  • Maintain all payroll files and ensure required documentation is received and valid.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience in computerized payroll, with experience in Payroll Guardian being an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment and labor standards.
  • Payroll Certification (PCP) or working towards.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work effectively under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Proven ability to be flexible, confident, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to interact with diverse individuals in a calm, courteous, and effective manner.
