Job Overview

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled Relief Support Assistant to join our team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the success and well-being of students with special needs and additional requirements.

Job Description

This position involves providing instruction, support, and encouragement to students who require extra attention. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, program support staff, and other stakeholders to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering core academic subjects (reading, writing, mathematics) to special needs/additional needs students across various grade levels.
  • Providing individualized support and accommodations to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborating with educators to develop and implement tailored lesson plans and instructional strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and progress reports.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong understanding of teaching methodologies, classroom management techniques, and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

We are looking for an individual with a Grade 12 education combined with relevant training or experience in working with special needs students. Analytical, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions and Salary

This position is located on the K'atlodeche First Nation Reserve. We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will have access to comprehensive benefits, including health and dental insurance, pension plan, and paid time off.
