Job Title: Community Programs Assistant

Job Summary:

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Community Programs Assistant to support the First Nations House of Learning (FNHL) Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolio. This role will provide administrative and programming support to the FNHL team, including event coordination, logistics, and community partnership development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate events and programming support for FNHL's Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolios, including planning, preparation, and execution.
  • Provide administrative support to the FNHL team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, including Indigenous organizations and community groups.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of student engagement initiatives and programs.
  • Provide support for student retention initiatives, including scheduling meetings and providing follow-up support.
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of promotional materials, including brochures, posters, and social media content.
  • Participate in the budget planning process and monitor expenses to ensure compliance with program and UBC financial policies.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation and two-year post-secondary diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively within the UBC community and with external stakeholders.
  • Class 5 BC Driver's License is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
