Job Title: Community Programs Assistant

Job Summary:

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Community Programs Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and inclusive environment, supporting the First Nations House of Learning (FNHL) Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate events and programming support for FNHL's Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolios, including planning, preparations, and event execution.
  • Provide administrative and programming support to Musqueam and UBC Bridge Through Sport Program staff, including coordinating events, creating posters, and developing surveys.
  • Update social media channels for the FNHL Student Engagement and Community Programs portfolio, including Facebook, Instagram, and the website.
  • Support student meetings and provide communication and follow-up support to first-year students regarding first-year student retention initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation, updating, and distribution of promotional and informational materials for Student Engagement and Community Programs, including website, brochures, and posters.
  • Participate in the Student Engagement and Community Programs budget planning process, monitoring expenses and ensuring compliance with program and UBC financial policies.

Requirements:

  • High School graduation and two-year post-secondary diploma; Bachelor's degree an asset.
  • Four years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background in Indigenous issues or experience working with First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students, people, and organizations is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively within the UBC community and with external stakeholders.
  • Class 5 BC Driver's License is preferred.
