Job Title: Educational Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Toronto District School Board.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide support to teachers and students with deaf or hard of hearing needs in a variety of educational settings. This includes assisting with academic instruction, personal care, and health needs, as well as promoting independence and self-advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing individualized education plans for students with deaf or hard of hearing needs;
  • Provide support with academic instruction, including alternative curriculum and instructional strategies;
  • Assist with personal care and health needs, including toileting, lifting, and transferring;
  • Support students in developing self-advocacy skills and promoting independence;
  • Assist with integration of students with deaf or hard of hearing needs into regular classroom programs;
  • Provide support to teachers and students in a variety of educational settings, including regular and special education classrooms.
Requirements:
  • Two-year Community College Diploma in a related field (e.g., ECE, DSW);
  • Three months of related experience working with students with language delays or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Fluency in sign language;
  • Knowledge of Deaf Culture.
