The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic, physical, and emotional support to students with exceptional needs within the school environment. As a professional and integral member of the school team, the Educational Support Specialist will work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities, behavioral or learning difficulties.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote student independence and self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to students as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Relevant training and experience working with students with special needs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with students with special needs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
