Medical Office Assistant

At Grace Hospital, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and staff.
Responsibilities:- Provide clerical, receptionist, and related duties as directed by the Clinical Manager, RN, RPN, and/or LPN.
- Act as a member of the healthcare team, demonstrating a commitment to the values, vision, goals, and objectives of the Region/facility/unit.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling, data entry, and record-keeping.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Previous patient care experience preferred.
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required.
- Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required.
- Typing/keyboarding skills minimum 40 wpm required.
- Current hospital-based information systems/programs; scheduling systems/programs preferred.
- Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written).
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
The Ward Clerk will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to function effectively in a stressful environment is essential.
