At Durham College, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Part-Time Professor to join our Faculty of Social and Community Services. As a Part-Time Professor, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of courses, including Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Statistics, Quantitative Research Methods, CBT Therapeutic Applications and Theory, and Ethics.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles. You will utilize principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process and effectively use educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and on-line courses.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning
  • Ensure that course and program curriculum is current and relevant
  • Work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Work effectively with students, the program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Requirements:
  • A relevant PhD in Psychology or Social Work
  • A minimum of five years of recent (within the past three years) and relevant work experience
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated understanding and application of UDL and current assessment methodologies
  • Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset
