Job Title: Part-Time Professor

At Durham College, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Part-Time Professor to join our Faculty of Social and Community Services. As a Part-Time Professor, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in our degree programs, with a focus on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver high-quality course materials and assessments that align with the college's curriculum standards.
  • Teach and mentor students in a variety of settings, including face-to-face and online courses.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to students on their academic progress and career goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum changes and improvements.
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to promote student success and retention.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Psychology or Social Work, with a minimum of five years of recent and relevant work experience.
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level, with a demonstrated understanding and application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and current assessment methodologies.
  • Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to putting the student experience first, with a focus on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proven track record of life-long learning, with a willingness to stay current with best practices in teaching and learning.
