Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Community & Family Services department, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing outreach programs, including intake clients and community meal programs. You will work closely with our Corps Officer, volunteers, and staff to ensure the successful implementation of these programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee outreach programs, including intake clients and community meal programs.
  • Work closely with our Corps Officer, volunteers, and staff to ensure the successful implementation of these programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local community agencies, organizations, and businesses.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers to support outreach programs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of program budgets and financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Requirements:

  • Completion of post-secondary certificate program in Social Work, i.e., Social Services or Human Services of at least 1 academic year.
  • A diploma is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of mental health and addiction issues.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including experience working with multi-barriered persons, individuals with mental health and addiction issues, and a variety of social service programs.
  • Some supervisory experience with the ability to motivate, instruct, and coordinate volunteers.
  • Experience in meal planning within a budget appreciated.
  • Some experience with community programming in a church setting would be an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a permanent full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week.
  • The working environment is typically in multiple work locations. This will include working at the church location, as well as an "off-site" program location.
  • This job requires the ability to lift/move up to 40lbs and reach, bend, stoop frequently and/or work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Travel is associated with this position {5 to 10%}; required to use a Salvation Army program vehicle when available.
