Job Summary:

Heddle Shipyards is a leading Canadian ship repair and construction company on the Great Lakes. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead our major government projects, including Vessel Life Extensions and new build construction projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing the shipyard modernization project, overseeing the procurement and installation of robotic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide project teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Manage project communication, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.
  • Define project scope and develop project schedules and resource plans.
  • Assign and prioritize project tasks, setting milestones and deadlines.
  • Manage project resources and costs, tracking performance and reporting to the Director of Project Management & Engineering.
  • Implement and manage changes, communicating change orders to clients.
  • Identify, prevent, and manage risks, ensuring project quality and adherence to industry standards.
  • Submit deliverables and ensure they meet quality and industry standards.
  • Perform other relevant project-related duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of construction experience as a project manager.
  • 10+ years of experience in marine repair, maintenance, and/or construction.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate multiple large-scale projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to invoke change and buy-in on novel concepts and programs.
  • Ability to read and understand engineered design drawings.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software.
