Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Systems Specialist to join our team at Cadence Design Systems, Inc. This role will be responsible for providing top-notch technical support to our Canadian users, ensuring seamless desktop and server operations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional technical support to Canadian users, resolving desktop and server hardware and software issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with the Canada regional IT team and Cadence global IT to ensure regional issues are managed effectively and meet expectations.
  • Manage vendor relationships with hardware and software service providers, ensuring seamless delivery of services and products.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate levels of IT hardware stock, adhering to strict policies and procedures.
  • Support the implementation and usage of global standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Provide induction training to end-users on basic tools used at Cadence.
  • Assist various business units with upgrades and enhancements needed for Cadence product certification on various systems.
  • Assist management in defining and modifying new policies and procedures as required.
  • Participate in bi-weekly technical meetings with peers to drive technical excellence.
  • Own 1-2 remote sites, providing support remotely and occasional travel for site visits.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 3 years of desktop support or service desk experience in a blended environment of Microsoft and Apple technologies.
  • Mac/JAMF support experience.
  • Experience with asset management.
  • Strong understanding of SCCM.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, including Windows 10, Office 365, and anti-virus software.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP and DHCP.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with Cisco network equipment.
  • Understanding of Linux/UNIX.
  • Certifications in Microsoft and Cisco technologies.
  • ITIL Foundations V.3 or V.4 certification.
  • Customer-centric and service-minded approach.
  • Knowledge of Lenovo, Dell, and Apple hardware.
  • Experience in performing PC/laptop imaging.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS desktop applications and other standard Cadence desktop applications.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory.
  • Will to work with Network and Server teams and grow skills beyond desktop scope.
