Job Overview

The University of British Columbia is seeking a skilled Parking Operations Coordinator to join its team. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the safety and efficiency of parking facilities and traffic regulations on campus.

About the Role

This position involves overseeing the safe and effective operations of parking facilities and enforcing traffic regulations. You will work closely with the Operations Supervisor – Support Desk and the Parking Operations Manager to ensure seamless coordination and high levels of service.

Main Responsibilities

Supervise and direct the work of Compliance Officers and other staff to ensure operational efficiency and productivity.Monitor and report on non-compliance with departmental policies and procedures.Participate in staff recruitment, evaluation, and training.Document performance issues, coaching conversations, and employee development plans.Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, supporting staff and addressing their needs promptly.Schedule staff according to operational requirements, making adjustments as needed.Attend to customer complaints and respond to event requests, coordinating parking arrangements for special events.Responsible for implementing and operating parking events, collecting data, creating event plans, and scheduling staff accordingly.Lead the events team, perform traffic control when required, and gather feedback from staff.Monitors operational and staff performance against established targets and coordinates the implementation of new processes.Evaluate radio checks with field staff to ensure safety protocols are followed.Prepare reports on capacity utilization and respond to field staff requests for support.Provide excellent customer service, ensuring interactions are handled professionally.During evenings and weekends, supervise staff within other parking units as required, liaising with relevant managers.Release towed vehicles as necessary, logging information accurately.Perform the work of staff at lower classifications when operationally required.Assist office staff and carry out related duties as needed.

Risk Consequences

Inadequate staffing decisions may lead to gaps in operational requirements, compromising customer service and departmental goals. Failure to monitor compliance could result in decreased revenue, inadequate public safety, and structural failures.

Poor decision-making or lack of tact, diplomacy, or sensitivity may damage relationships and credibility for the University.

Qualifications and Requirements

We require a minimum of three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid BC Driver's License and completion of a post-secondary training program are also essential.

Preferred Qualifications

A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License.Knowledge of parking industry practices an asset.Ability to work flexible hours.Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook, with ability to learn administrative software and mobile applications.Effective leadership, training, supervision, and motivation of staff.Adaptability in responding to operational changes.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Maintaining accuracy with great attention to detail.Resourcefulness and initiative in problem-solving.Confidentiality and sound judgment in sensitive matters.Success in attending a TCP-Traffic Control Certification course and passing the examination.Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Salary Range

$68,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
