Occupational Health Nurse

Haztech is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Health and Safety Team in Ottawa, Ontario. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting safe and healthy working conditions by identifying hazards and risks in the workplace and developing strategies to mitigate them.
Key Responsibilities- Health Promotion and Education: Develop and implement health promotion programs to foster a culture of wellness and safety in the workplace.
- Occupational Health Surveillance: Maintain a busy Health Surveillance and Periodic Medical Program, including Audiometry, Spirometry, Respirator Fit Testing, Emergency Response Team Member Medicals, Rail Operator Medicals, Vision Screening, and CustomFit Hearing Protection.
- Case Management: Provide initial assessment and first aid treatment for workplace injuries and illnesses, coordinate medical care and rehabilitation services, and monitor employee progress to ensure a safe and timely return to job duties.
- Compliance and Documentation: Remain current with occupational health and safety regulations and ensure compliance with guidelines, maintaining accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and other privacy laws.
- Employee Assistance and Counseling: Offer confidential counseling and support services to employees dealing with stress, mental health issues, or personal problems, and serve as a resource for employees seeking information or assistance with health-related concerns.
- Registered Nurse in Alberta
- 5 years OHN experience required
- Occupational Health Nursing Certification preferred
- OHN designation preferred
- Audiometric technician certification
- Pulmonary function (spirometry) testing certification
- Disability management certification an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Proficiency in computer applications, including electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office suite
