Job Summary

Haztech is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Health and Safety Team in Ottawa, Ontario. As an Occupational Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting safe and healthy working conditions by identifying hazards and risks in the workplace and developing strategies to mitigate them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health Promotion and Education: Develop and implement health promotion programs to foster a culture of wellness and safety in the workplace.
  • Occupational Health Surveillance: Maintain a busy Health Surveillance and Periodic Medical Program, including Audiometry, Spirometry, Respirator Fit Testing, Emergency Response Team Member Medicals, Rail Operator Medicals, Vision Screening, and Custom Fit Hearing Protection.
  • Case Management: Provide initial assessment and first aid treatment for workplace injuries and illnesses, coordinate medical care and rehabilitation services, and facilitate return-to-work programs.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
  • Employee Assistance and Counseling: Offer confidential counseling and support services to employees dealing with stress, mental health issues, or personal problems.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse in Alberta
  • 5 years OHN experience required
  • Occupational Health Nursing Certification preferred
  • OHN designation preferred
  • Audiometric technician certification
  • Pulmonary function (spirometry) testing certification
  • Disability management certification an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office suite
