Occupational Health Nurse Specialist

At The Royal Mental Health Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our employees, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer the Attendance Support Program to support employees in managing their attendance and productivity.
- Provide managers with tools and advice to support employee attendance and engagement.
- Analyze and report on trends and statistical data to inform program improvements.
- Maintain efficient data collection systems to track and report attendance management experiences.
- Review and ensure all pre-placement requirements for new staff, students, and volunteers are met.
- Provide vaccination updates and administer vaccinations to staff, volunteers, students, and physicians.
- Assist with outbreak management on patient units and provide support for new hire evaluations.
- Follow up on Employee Incident Reports and file Form 7 to the WSIB as required.
- Book RTW meetings or modified work meetings and accommodation in the workplace.
- Assist in health promotion and healthy workplace initiatives and participate in the Healthy Workplace Committee.
- Administer first aid for non-occupational and occupational injuries/illnesses and escort injured/suddenly ill employees to advanced level healthcare providers.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Diploma as a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Occupational Health Nursing Certificate preferred.
- One year of recent relevant experience obtained from working within Occupational Health and Safety required (Hospital setting preferred).
- Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
- Knowledge of occupational health issues, Worker's Compensation regulations, workplace health & safety management, and case management is an asset.
- Experience or knowledge in infection control an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good computer skills in Word, Excel, Parklane, and general spreadsheets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide client services.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.
$34.33 to $35.97 per hour
