Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Building Sciences Consultant (Engineer-in-Training) to join our Southwestern Ontario group in Hamilton, ON. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our experienced engineers to conduct site reviews, provide expert guidance, and support project delivery.
Responsibilities- Apply engineering knowledge to tasks on building science & audit projects, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Assist engineers with building evaluations & site reports, utilizing your analytical skills to identify areas for improvement.
- Perform property condition assessments reports, including site work and report preparation, to provide valuable insights to clients.
- Creation of capital plans setting out projected building expenditure, helping clients make informed decisions about their investments.
- Assist the preparation of building investigation reports, and construction documents, ensuring clarity and concision.
- Conduct building investigations and field reviews to determine design and repair options, leveraging your expertise to drive project success.
- Perform non-invasive investigations, which may include ladder work, working at heights, working in confined spaces, and making field measurements, to gather critical information.
- Perform construction site visits, documenting observations and field-testing results, to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Make contributions to company knowledge management and practice systems, sharing your expertise with colleagues to enhance our collective capabilities.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the building science (or appropriate engineering field) industry, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
- College Diploma in Engineering or an engineering degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Architectural Science or a construction-related discipline, demonstrating a solid foundation in relevant principles and practices.
- Registered or eligible for registration with PEO, showcasing your commitment to professional development and adherence to industry standards.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle, as occasional travel may be required to client sites.
- Knowledge of building materials, construction processes, structures, and mechanical and electrical systems, enhancing your ability to provide expert guidance.
- Ability to gather and diagnose information, interpret data and drawings, and communicate complex ideas effectively.
- Self-organization skills, enabling you to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, essential tools for creating reports, presentations, and spreadsheets.
- Experience in Consulting Engineering, conducting building assessments or a related field, a significant advantage in this role.
- A competitive salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
