Job Title: Mechanical Engineer/Designer, Interiors Development Center

Alstom is a leading company in the mobility sector, and we're looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join our Interiors Development Center in St-Bruno, Canada.

Job Summary:

We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer/Designer to lead the development and engineering of interiors components and sub-assemblies for our Americas region. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality interiors products that meet our Centre of Excellence Interiors Quality, Cost, and Time (QCD) commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Define concepts and perform design of interiors components and sub-assemblies for scopes under your responsibility, from tender to first mounting on the car, including concepts, geometry, weight, acoustics, eco-design, aerodynamics, and other performance requirements.
  2. Deliver quality designs that meet cost targets and deadlines, in line with project objectives.
  3. Use digital mock-up tools, such as Catia V5 and DMA, to perform activities and consider inputs such as weight, acoustics, and other train requirements.
  4. Deploy and apply project development procedures, leveraging catalogue and standard solutions of the CDS Interiors.
  5. Optimize parts design to reach recurring and non-recurring costs targets and ensure committed planning.
  6. Be responsible for respect of interiors parts engineering planning on your scope.
  7. Leverage external engineering sub-contractors and/or internal CAD engineers to assist you and support in your activities.
  8. Ensure deliverable quality and their acceptance by internal customers.
  9. Ensure configuration management of your scope.
  10. Prepare design review elements.
  11. Include tolerance analysis and stack-up through your design evolutions.
  12. Support Quality team during suppliers review on your scope.
Requirements:
  • You are a Mechanical Professional Engineer or have a College degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in design of mechanical parts, preferably in railway, automotive, and bus industries.
  • Excellent skills and proficient in CATIA V5 and use of Excel & other MS Office.
  • Work experience with Suppliers in similar domain is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • You are able to work in an international environment and matrix organization structure.
  • Member of OIQ (Professional Engineers).
  • You have good written and spoken communication skills.
  • You are fluent in French & English.
