Job Title: Associate Chief Medical Officer

Join the Ministry of Health as an Associate Chief Medical Officer and play a pivotal role in shaping public health policies, driving evidence-based decision-making, and fostering collaboration across various health sectors.

About the Role:
  • Provide strategic leadership and expert medical advice to the Ministry of Health and senior government officials.
  • Lead the strategic application of public health science, research, and business intelligence to support policy and long-term planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with public health partners, including Public Health Ontario, Medical Officers of Health, and other government agencies, to facilitate system-wide public health planning, integration, and alignment.
  • Act as a key leader in public health emergencies, providing guidance and direction to ensure effective response and recovery.
Requirements:
  • A degree in medicine from a university of recognized standing and a Fellowship in Community Medicine (Public Health and Preventive Medicine) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • A license to practice medicine in Ontario, with a minimum of five years' experience as a practicing public health physician.
  • Superior leadership and management skills to provide direction and leadership to the public health system and act as a mentor to division colleagues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence-informed practice, knowledge translation, and the application of research in practice to support policy decision-making.
