About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Chief Medical Officer of Health to join our team at the Ministry of Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will provide strategic medical advice and leadership to support the development and implementation of public health policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert medical leadership and strategic advice on public health issues to the Chief Medical Officer of Health and senior ministry officials.
  • Lead the strategic application of public health science, research, and business intelligence to support policy and long-term planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with public health partners, including Public Health Ontario, Medical Officers of Health, and other government agencies, to facilitate system-wide public health planning, integration, and alignment.
  • Promote the use of scientific evidence and research in public health policy and programs.
  • Act as a key leader in public health emergencies, providing guidance and direction to ensure effective response and recovery.
Requirements
  • A degree in medicine from a university of recognized standing and a Fellowship in Community Medicine (Public Health and Preventive Medicine) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • A license to practice medicine in Ontario, with a minimum of five years' experience as a practicing public health physician.
