Durability Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Durability Engineer to join our team at RACAR Canada INC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for conducting durability tests, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute durability tests using MTS real-time hydraulically actuated simulators
  • Analyze data using various data acquisition systems and software, including MTS RPC Pro and FlexTest
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to communicate test results and provide recommendations for product improvements
  • Lead projects from start to finish, with minimal guidance, and demonstrate strong time management and leadership skills
  • Work collaboratively with the RTS mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance, and facilities teams
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
  2. Experience with data acquisition equipment using various transducers, including accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges
  3. Understanding of damage severity analysis and stress-life/load-life calculations; MTS RPC Pro and FlexTest experience preferred
  4. Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and VBA
  5. Strong time management, leadership, planning, and follow-up skills
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  7. Minimum of 2-5 years of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry
  8. Ability to support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts, and weekends on occasion
  9. Experience working in a unionized environment
  10. Experience working with servo-hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and tuning
Preferred Requirements
  1. Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Aeronautical Engineering
  2. Hydraulically actuated testing experience using MTS RPC Pro/FlexTest software
  3. Experience with nCode and Somat eDAQ equipment
  4. Previous CANBUS experience (CANanalyzer, etc)
  5. Strain gauge theory and application
  6. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  7. Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
