The Licensed Optician Role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Optician to join our team at LensCrafters in London, ON. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical dispensing and excellent customer service skills.
  • As a Licensed Optician, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional value to our customers by providing legendary customer service and perfectly crafted high-quality eyewear.
  • You will also be expected to create a warm welcome for all customers, exchange names, and ensure they know what to expect. This includes showing urgency in providing service to customers and satisfying their needs.
  • In addition, you will be responsible for custom-fitting glasses and precisely placing prescriptions in lenses, acting as a leader in optical acumen that provides a voice for associates, and taking and recording measurements, adjusting or fitting eyewear correctly.
  • Your other responsibilities will include attracting new customers, exploring the needs and priorities of customers by asking open-ended questions, being attentive to details, and asking follow-up questions for clarity.
  • You will also be expected to assist coworkers with difficult or complex areas of product needs and prescriptions, utilize store tools, and adhere to Brand Store Commitments.
  • Furthermore, you will perform work accurately and thoroughly utilizing all technology despite time pressure and customer volume, demonstrate superior product knowledge, and take the initiative to accurately describe the features and benefits of various lenses and frames using appropriate tools.
  • You will also strive to develop long-term solutions to problems and ensure customers are satisfied and expectations are exceeded. Acts quickly for resolution. Partners with management as necessary.
  • Possesses the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time with competing priorities. Commits to delivery date and time, seeks feedback, and asks for referrals.
  • Strives to achieve exceptional results on Brand KPIs and competencies. Presents, celebrates, and educates at pick up. Takes pride in store appearance, shows initiative to keep store clean, attractive, and organized. Secures and protects company assets in your control.
  • Informs management of safety opportunities; demonstrates safe work practices. Possesses a “can do” spirit and strong drive for results; self-motivated with a desire for continual learning and improvement.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to discounting, promotions, and inventory management.
  • Sells on your feet 80%-100% of the time. Additional duties may be assigned as needed (i.e., customer calls, dispensing eyewear, etc.). Maintains proper dress code, including name tag and associate tablet.


About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual who has a strong background in optical dispensing and excellent customer service skills. Our ideal candidate will have:



  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • State licensure
  • Optical dispensing experience
  • Strong customer service skills: communicator, listener, and team builder
  • Knowledge of current store merchandise
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Awareness of current fashion trends
  • Selling skills – ability to use and carry an iPad/tablet
  • Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators
  • Embrace new technology and change


Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year

The estimated salary range for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and retirement savings plan.
