The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Performing various tasks in support of engineering office and field staff, including testing and assessment of construction materials, such as soil, rock, concrete, grout, asphalt, and geotextiles.
  • Attending projects with problematic ground conditions, performing measurements, and recording observations to determine cost-effective solutions.
  • Completing granular and soils material sampling, coordinating with utility locators, sub-contractor representatives, and other on-site personnel.
  • Assisting with mobilization and demobilization of project-related equipment, filing project-related notes/drawings according to project requirements, and preparing field instructions and Health and Safety plans.
  • Performing general data entry, analysis, and document preparation, as well as collecting environmental samples (soil and water) for chemical assessment in support of construction activities.

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a diploma in Civil or Geological Engineering Technology with an emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering and be available to travel. Past experience in geotechnical drilling, including soil logging, in-situ site testing, and rock core logging, is also highly desirable.
