The Greater Victoria School District provides educational services to over 20,000 students in the region, encompassing six municipalities. This position works closely with students identified by the District Inclusive Learning Team, providing academic assistance and facilitating their inclusion in the classroom and school environment.

The District Educational Assistant (DEA) plays a crucial role in supporting student behaviour and providing inclusive learning experiences. With a focus on proactively intervening and supporting students, the DEA ensures that each student receives the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.

This is a continuing position within the CUPE 947 Collective Agreement, with a competitive hourly rate of $33.84 based on a 28 hour work week. Upon successful completion of probation, you will be eligible for benefits. The ideal candidate will possess a certificate in Education Assistant or Community Support Work, as well as relevant experience working with individuals with complex needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing individualized support to students with challenging behaviours
  • Facilitating inclusive learning experiences in the classroom and school environment
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement student plans
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting progress to parents and educators
