Job Summary:

The Manager, Heritage Resources is a key leadership position within the Government of Nunavut, responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the Heritage Resources division. This role requires a strong understanding of cultural heritage and resource management, as well as excellent leadership and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategic Direction: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Heritage Resources division, ensuring alignment with the Government of Nunavut's operational objectives.
  • Program Planning and Budgeting: Plan, budget, and oversee the work programs of Heritage Resources, ensuring effective use of resources and achievement of divisional objectives.
  • Staff Management: Manage and develop staff through work plans, training, performance reviews, and discipline as necessary.
  • Outreach and Coordination: Provide outreach and coordination of services to connect Heritage programs with other organizations, ensuring programs meet national standards.
  • Electronic Database Management: Manage and provide strategic direction for the planning, development, and implementation of electronic databases related to divisional and departmental objectives.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will typically hold a recognized master's degree in Heritage Resource Management or Archaeology, plus two years' experience in project or program management, strategic planning, and management of human and financial resources. Experience writing, monitoring, and administering grant funding is an asset. Excellent Inuktitut or English language skills are considered essential, as well as knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.
