Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for the property accounting portfolio, including reviewing and preparing monthly journal accounting entries and account analysis of assets, liabilities, and P&L accounts.
  • Monitor the consistent and accurate application of capital expenditure policy.
  • Prepare, review, and assist in coordinating annual budget and quarterly forecasts for property Operating Statements and CAPEX portfolio in conjunction with Operations and Controller.
  • Prepare and submit specific reports or schedules and financial impact analysis of tenant legislation in the respective province, as required.
  • Prepare and review schedules for realty tax analysis and appeals, where applicable.
  • Review and prepare any required analysis or supporting documentation to support acquisition and disposition of properties.
  • Maintain proper quarterly and year-end accounting working paper files.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist the reporting manager in providing financial guidance to various stakeholders, including Procurement, Leasing & Revenue, and Operations departments.
  • Assist the reporting manager in identifying system or process issues and making recommendations for enhancements.
  • Manage queries from Operations and Head Office staff and auditors.
  • Assist in reviewing and documenting accounting processes and procedures, recommending and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Continuously review business processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by the reporting manager or senior management.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or final stages.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant industry experience with full-cycle accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and its applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and in a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Excel is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and BPC is an asset.
