Aecon is a leading construction company with a strong presence in Canada's infrastructure and transportation markets. We're seeking a skilled Project Controls Manager to join our team and support the delivery of our projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting project controls guidelines and implementing tools and systems to effectively manage and report on project performance. This includes earned value management, cash flow, cost, revenue, forecasting, and scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to project controls and operations teams to recognize emerging issues and drive toolset/process adoption.
  • Collaborate with estimating, operations, and finance personnel to develop methodologies for project-level financial forecasting.
  • Attend and contribute to handover and kick-off meetings.
  • Provide project controls input on commercial, administrative, and reporting requirements during project setup.
  • Oversee scheduling functions to ensure projects meet standards and target completion dates.
  • Conduct detailed review and analysis of project performance control and reporting.
  • Ensure management is provided with timely project status reports and forecasting.
  • Oversee and support project change management, including subcontractor claims and dispute resolution.
  • Identify commercial risks and develop mitigation measures.
  • Identify opportunities for project controls improvement.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business or engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating, and cost control.
  • Strong knowledge of earned value management principles.
  • Leadership and team building skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead a project controls team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
