The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the Nova Scotia Health Authority, performing assigned duties as required by the Respiratory Therapists within the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists' Scope of Practice and Institutional Policy and Procedure.
The successful candidate will be expected to achieve the goals and objectives pertaining to the Cardio-Respiratory Department, including assessments, implementation of treatment, evaluation, care plan, and education of patients requiring respiratory therapy.
The Respiratory Therapist will obtain a patient history and assess the clinical significance of therapist-driven protocols as related to respiratory therapy care, conduct a full respiratory assessment, and evaluate progress, adapting a treatment plan according to patient needs and expected outcomes.
The Respiratory Therapist will implement a respiratory discharge plan, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
Recruitment IncentivesSuccessful candidates may be eligible for a $5,000 to $10,000 signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy, and be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certified or willingness to obtain
- Current Heart & Stroke BCLS (Level C) Certification
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapist (CSRT) preferred
- Successful completion of hospital-based certification and recertification procedures are mandatory for continued employment
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; must be an effective team player
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours- Permanent Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $40.66 per hour.
