Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the Cardio-Respiratory Department, performing duties that align with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists' Scope of Practice and Institutional Policy and Procedure. This position requires the ability to achieve departmental goals and objectives, with a focus on assessments, treatment implementation, evaluation, care planning, and patient education. The successful candidate will obtain patient histories, assess the clinical significance of therapist-driven protocols, and conduct comprehensive respiratory assessments. They will also evaluate patient progress, adapt treatment plans, and implement respiratory discharge plans.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough respiratory assessments and evaluations
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to patient needs
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Provide education and support to patients and families
- Stay up-to-date with the latest respiratory therapy techniques and protocols
- Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy and registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification or willingness to obtain
- Current Heart & Stroke BCLS (Level C) Certification
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) preferred
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Competitive hourly rate of $29.66 - $40.66
