Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the Cardio-Respiratory Department, performing duties that align with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists' Scope of Practice and Institutional Policy and Procedure. This position requires a high level of expertise in assessing, implementing, and evaluating respiratory therapy care for patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining patient histories, conducting full respiratory assessments, and adapting treatment plans to meet individual patient needs and expected outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients' respiratory health and develop personalized treatment plans
- Implement and evaluate respiratory therapy protocols, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care and education to patients and families
- Stay up-to-date with the latest respiratory therapy techniques and best practices
- Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy and registered with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification or willingness to obtain
- Current Heart & Stroke BCLS (Level C) Certification
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) preferred
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
As a Respiratory Therapist with the Nova Scotia Health Authority, you will have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
Working Hours- Permanent Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
